About

Fighting to Win

Attorney Derek Ritchie is the founder and managing attorney of The Law Office of Derek S. Ritchie, PLLC, exclusively practicing family law and criminal defense.

Derek earned his law degree in London, United Kingdom, where he practiced criminal law, primarily defending those charged with gang-related crimes, assaults and battery cases, sex crimes, and violent crimes involving knives and weapons. Derek left the UK to earn his Master of Law Degree (LLM) from The University of Texas School of Law. During this time, Derek worked with the Williamson County District Attorney’s Office, gaining valuable experience on how prosecutors prepare and conduct their investigations for their case.

After law school, Derek worked for a highly respected criminal law firm in San Antonio, where he primarily handled DWIs, intoxication manslaughter cases, murders, and sex crimes. Wanting to expand his legal knowledge, Derek went on to work for a high-volume family law practice where he gained a wealth of knowledge in all areas of family law including divorce and separation, child custody, adoption, CPS-related cases, child support, and enforcement.

The two primary elements of his representation are his passion and determination – whether in the courtroom, at mediation, or with the opposing attorney. He fights for what his clients deserve and pushes back every time he can. When agreements come to a halt, Derek is the one to thinks outside the box to craft and negotiate the deal in his client’s favor. He always strives to fight for the best result possible for his client in the quickest amount of time.

Clients know Derek is dedicated to them and to meeting their needs. He is available to them every day, including weekends. When his clients need to talk to him most, Derek is ready and available to give advice.
